This class will trace the development of the city of Edo/Tokyo from the days of the Tokugawa Bakufu to the immediate postwar period. Through examining this history students will also gain an understanding of the development of Japan in Northeast Asia and the world. We will accomplish this through lecture, readings, and city tours. |
