Nowadays, it seems to me that only economic aspect of World Heritage is emphasized, and essential concept of World Heritage is neglected. Given the situation, this course intends to pursue two purposes. First, it intends to show how the tourism development will be analyzed. A special emphasis here is on anthropological approach. Students will learn about what aspect of tourism development to be noted from anthropological perspectives. Second, the course intends to discuss more practical issues, especially the issues of cultural resource managemennt. Namely, the knowledge which students will obtain through analysis of tourism development should be used for better management of cultural resource. For this purpose, students are required to carefully look at each World Heritage site, and to analyzed problems which those sites have. At the end of the course, students will be required to have a capacity enough to present an alternative idea on the management of World Heritage site. |
