The US and European countries have lead the development and innovations of modern finance industry. The changes and developments of financial insitutions and regulations there have key implications to the global markets. This course explores the current situations and key issues of US and European financial &capital markets and financial institutions. We will frame the discussion in the context of the globalization of financial markets and will consider the markets from the perspective of economic development, domestic institutional reform, regulations, policy decisions and so on. Discussion will combine an analysis of historical trends and of the most recent data and events with insight from practical experience. We will pick up 2-3 articles from weekly ’The Economist’ and discuss them in the class |
