This course is based on the study of foreign legal systems. Students will be introduced to the Canadian legal system and the Anglo-American style of legal dispute resolution. This includes topics such as sources of law, constitutional rights and freedoms, the resolution of civil and criminal cases, and the jury system. Interspersed with these topics will be case studies from the text; Viewpoints in Law. This text highlights legal issues and analyses of cases from several different countries. Students will regularly be required to answer questions and participate in debates. |
